We are proud to support NC500

Rosemount Cottages & Bothy are our three privately-owned holiday cottages situated in the heart of the Scottish Highlands and on the famous North Coast 500 route (NC500). The building's origins date back to c.1840 and have been recently modernized to incorporate more up to date facilities without losing the charm and cosiness of a traditional Highland cottage. They all boast some unique features and can be booked individually or together (depending on availability).

Rosemount ‘Cottage One’ comfortably sleeps 4 people as does Rosemount ‘Cottage Two’ (the largest of the three cottages) and Rosemount ‘Bothy’ comfortably sleeps two but can cater for up to four using a double sofa bed. The cottages share off road parking for up to 5 vehicles and have an extensive private garden area of approx. half an acre on the banks of Black Water river. Each cottage has its own garden area.

Garve is a perfect location as it brings not only the true feeling of being in the Highlands of Scotland but gives easy access to the City of Inverness and its airport (approx. 25 miles and 40 miles respectively). It is also only a 30 mile drive to Ullapool to hop on a CalMac ferry for a day trip to the Isle of Lewis, and in just over an hour’s drive you can be on the rugged Isle of Skye. Garve also has its own railway platform, with Rosemount only a few hundred yards away (three trains per day). You can hop on a train and have a day trip to Plockton, Kyle of Lochalsh or Inverness. A stunning train journey! The famous Bealach na Ba pass (Pass of the Cattle), on the way to Applecross, is but an hours drive from Rosemount. A must trip! And a real highlight of the NC500 route.

Black Water river is one of the most beautiful river stretches in the Highlands of Scotland and has many walks along its banks and branching off into forests. Rosemount Cottage has an abundance of history, being the old grocers accommodation up until recent years with many original features still present. We also have fishing rights on Black Water river from the banks immediately in front of the cottage. There are a large number of forestry walks to tackle, with varying degrees of difficulty. With the munro ‘Ben Wyvis’ on your door step (for more information check out www.walkhighlands.co.uk). You can even visit one of the best locations in the world to watch dolphins from the shore at Chanonry Point.

Rosemount Cottages & Bothy are an ideal retreat for walkers, cyclists, climbers, kayakers, anglers, naturalists or simply someone looking to enjoy the beauty and serenity of the Scottish Highlands. A great base to explore the famous North Coast 500 (NC500) tourist route and Scotland’s longest ‘Strath’ Strathconon. The Bothy offers short stay options of two nights (subject to availability and time of year).

We hope that you can come and experience the magic of the true Scottish Highlands from Rosemount Cottages & Bothy.
